According to the Robert Henrikson book, spirulina is rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and as reported by a 2013 Malaysian & Iranian study registered with the US National Library of Medicine, (1), gamma-linolenic acid, displayed a beneficial role in the treatment of postmenopausal symptoms.

There is also considerable anecdotal and scientific evidence (2) that Spirulina improves energy levels. Furthermore, there is some evidence that it also helps with anxiety and depression. It has certainly given me a “boost” with my energy levels but also, somehow, I have felt a lot more optimistic and upbeat since taking spirulina for a while. We believe it can help boost your state of mind so may also be helpful to those suffering from postmenopausal symptoms that may include depression. Where should I obtain my spirulina from?

Where you obtain your supplies of spirulina from is very important, to be sure the supplier is producing spirulina free of contamination. As spirulina grows, it acts like a sponge, sucking up anything in the water. So, being sure and confident about your supplier is very important.

In due course, you may wish to grow your own where you will see that we recommend you use bottled mineral or distilled water to grow your spirulina. Its very easy to do!
