One of the best supplements for the Pancreas that you can take, is Spirulina, said my Alternative Remedy Doctor. “Very good for Diabetes, Liver, Kidneys and Pancreas” he said.

The UK´s National Health Service (NHS) describe the symptoms for Pancreatitis which sound rather painful. Whilst I had not been diagnosed with Pancreatitis by my GP, I had noticed some symptoms described by the NHS, in particular, abdominal pain. I have been taking Spirulina for threee years now, and those symptoms disappeared a while back.
Spirulina Is a Superfood
Please remember that Spirulina is a superfood, not a medicine. Taking Spirulina supplements regularly has resulted in tremendous benefits to me in terms of my blood sugar control, increased energy, a much clearer and sharper mind with a vastly improved memory, control of IBS and Candida and muscle growth. Regularly consuming Spirulina has improved my quality of life immensely. I have also played my part by exercising regularly and watching my diet.
Can Spirulina Cure Cancer?
There are some controversial claims on the internet that Spirulina can cure Cancer of the Pancreas and other Cancers. Here at whyspirulina.com we are not going to endorse such claims until we see clear scientific and medical evidence.
Whilst it does look promising and in terms of nutrition there is no doubt, it’s an excellent superfood to add to your diet. However, we have found no evidence that Spirulina is a cure, but it does appear to act in some cases to help symptoms by “inhibiting” cancer growth*. A 2016 Chinese study found that Phycocyanin one of the “major pigment constituents of Spirulina” inhibits pancreatic cancer tumor growth in vivo. A 2014 Czech study confirms this. Adding that it was a potent antioxidant and anti-proliferative agent, noting that it decreased the proliferation of experimental pancreatic cancer*.

Helping Out
If you are looking for a supplement to help you, a friend or a loved one with Pancreatitis or worse, early stage Pancreatic Cancer, you may wish to discuss with your GP, your Specialist Doctor or Medical Practitioner whether the Superfood Spirulina would be a good idea to add to your diet? If your doctor says yes, please ensure you obtain your supply from a secure supplier.

Scientific Studies
Studies on animals have found that; Spirulina “decreased the proliferation of experimental pancreatic cancer”. And the Chinese study found it inhibits tumor growth. A Mexican report from 2014 also described the promising prospects, highlighting the anti-proliferation properties of Spirulina. A 2016 report on the use of Spirulina in the support of chemotherapy patients with “advanced oncologic disease”, looked at 120 patients with; “solid tumors (breast, lung, GI tract, prostate, malignant melanoma, oropharynx, gynecologic, sarcoma and pancreas cancer”. It concluded; “that the use of Spirulina represents an effective alternative in the nutritional support in patients with advanced oncologic disease”*. Spirulina is packed with nutrition so its highly effective in that regard.

Spirulina is indeed a great superfood. I have tried it a few times, and I would like to use it more often. It is great for smoothies, just mix it in, and you have yourself a nice power smoothie! 🙂 I find that some stores sell spirulina at a high price, which is the reason why I haven’t bought it more often. I didn’t know that it was used by the Aztecs. I live in Mexico, and since spirulina is Mexican it should be cheaper here, shouldn’t it? But we get it imported from the US … Are there are any good websites where you can order spirulina?
I buy it from Amazon.
That is great Debra.
Hi Trevor – I enjoyed reading this article as I am into consuming natural supplements. I also read the article pertaining to naturally lowering cholesterol. You mentioned that Spirulina is a food supplement. Is it in powder form? Does it contain any other ingredients? Does it help individuals other than those with pancreatitis such as diabetics?
I AM ACUTE CHRONIC PANCREAS PATIENT, I WANT USE THIS SPIRULINA FOOD TAKEN ?. HOW & WHEN I HAVE EAT.

After 18 months of taking Spirulina my second biopsy they could no longer find any prostate cancer, my third biopsy nothing. I’m now 8 years into remission my PSA is barely rising only because of age. I have several other relatives and friends with cancers also taking Spirulina and believe it has helped them significantly. It’s not a drug, it’s all natural and has no side affects so fight it will all the tools at hand. I started with the power, mixed it in yogurt until pill form was available.
Dear Rick, That is fantastic news. I have researched that spirulina can help with some types of Cancers and the site contains some links with some of that evidence. This site is intended to help people. It does not pay for itself. Would you be prepared to write an article describing your experience? My Father and both of my Uncles on my Father´s side died of Cancer related to Prostrate Cancer and your testimony might help others. I continue to regularly take spirulina and was recently told that I am no longer diabetic by my Doctor. I will be updating this article to reflect that. Of course, this is only anecdotal evidence and not a formal study but I do believe Spirulina is very helpful for a wide range of conditions. Thank you again for reaching out.
