Best Supplement To Boost Your Immune System

The primary purpose of this site is to help people

This site does not make money, in due course, we hope some income via Affiliate links will cover our time and expenses, but it is not a niche driven by profit. But a site driven by enthusiasm for the Spirulina superfood, that has helped their owners to overcome their own health challenges. Many people in the US, Canada & Europe are not aware of the amazing benefits of perhaps the best food supplement to boost your immune system.*

We want to be very clear, we are NOT (Repeat NOT) suggesting that a Spirulina superfood supplement is in any shape or form a prevention or a cure for COVID19.

Over prescription of antibiotics

Best Supplement To Boost Your Immune System

“Over prescription of antibiotics over the last 60 years has accelerated the mutation of resistant bacteria. People taking medications and antibiotics are more vulnerable. Antibiotics kill beneficial flora in the intestines, making room in the intestines, for infection by drug resistant bacteria”. So describes the Robert Henrikson book on Spirulina.

Antibiotics do not prevent viruses, but it’s the wider point about resistance to antibiotics we are making.

I feel like Dr WHO

Best Supplement To Boost Your Immune System

My Own Health has been renewed

My own personal health has been restored and renewed taking the best food supplement to boost your immune system. By regularly taking a well sourced Spirulina food supplement. Honestly, to those who know the series, I feel like Dr Who.*

Critical to the renewal of my health, has been the regular use of a well sourced Spirulina food supplement, to strengthen my immune system. I take some 3 or 3.5 grammes a day of Spirulina.

In the gym recently (I have stopped going now due to the risk of catching or spreading COVID -19) a personal trainer asked me my age and could not believe it when I told him I was nearly 60. “You train harder and have a more developed body than more than half of this gym he kindly commented. “Your energy levels for somebody of your age is phenomenal”. “Neither do you look nearly 60”.

3 grammes of Spirulina = 3 kgs of assorted fruit and vegetables

As children, we were encouraged to “eat up our fruits and vegetables” because they are good for you. This may surprise you; but as a rule of thumb, 3 grams (grammes), is the equivalent of 3 KG of fruits and vegetables in terms of nutrients. 3 grams (grammes)!

The Robert Henrikson book

Spirulina World Food: How this micro algae can transform your health and our planet,” by Robert Henrikson”.

Spirulina contains compounds including phycocyanin, polysaccharides, and sulfolipids that enhance the immune system. This super food has the most remarkable concentration of functional nutrients ever known in any food, plant, grain or herb” “Spirulina contains sulfolipids, found to prevent viruses from either attaching to or penetrating into cells, thus preventing viral infection, so describes the Robert Henrikson book.

BUT PLEASE CAREFULLY NOTE, WE ARE NOT (Repeat NOT) ADVOCATING Spirulina is A CURE OR A SPECIFIC PREVENTION e.g. for Covid 19.

Strengthen Your Immune System?

“Is there something I can take to boost or strengthen my immune system ?”* A clinical trial (1) demonstrated it may fortify the immune system in older people. Another study (2) of 19 members of the Polish Rowing team undertaking strenuous training, highlighted the effectiveness of Spirulina in maintaining the immune system. And a Chinese study (3) highlighted by the UN, (para 5.1 highlights the benefit of Spirulina with boosting immunity in the extreme case of radiation)*

We want to repeat and be very clear, we are NOT (Repeat NOT) suggesting that a Spirulina superfood supplement is in any shape or form a prevention or a cure for COVID19.

Push Back from Microbiologists

We have had some push back from an ex microbiologist on Twitter. Fair enough. They are entitled to be sceptical, to have their own protocols and views. And of course have their own interests to protect. We would welcome many more studies on Spirulina too.

For now, I would refer you to the Henrickson book. We would suggest, the current & recent generations of microbiologists appear to have made us more vulnerable. The Pharmaceutical & Health Insurance Industry also have major interests at stake. Particularly if a super food or food supplement means we need to buy fewer medications. Let’s keep an open mind and remember the world is not flat. We think the experience of 3.5 Billion years’ + experience of this astonishing micro-algae, that was fundamental in the development & evolution of our planet and could potentially be critical in the avoidance of a crisis with regards to Global Warming, holds the trump card.

Please keep healthy and strong. If you wish to purchase Spirulina via the links on this site, it will cost you no more than buying direct. But, please do try some (under the guidance of your doctor as there are some conditions that this superfood is not recommended for). Anti-Aging Skin Care Diet – Spirulina?

24 thoughts on “Best Food Supplement To Boost Your Immune System”

  1. Hi Trevor,

I have not used much spirulina, but I agree that it has incredible health benefits and it boosts your immune system. The reason I didn’t always buy it was because of the high price in my hometown (it gets imported here), but perhaps it would be a lot better (and cheaper) for me to order it online, through your website. I don’t know why that has never occurred to me before 😉

I have used spirulina mostly in smoothies, and right now I am already taking vitamin C and zinc, but I think that it would be even better to add spirulina to my diet again, especially now with what’s going on in the world. This post came at the right time 🙂

  2. Though I wouldn’t deny that I have heard about spirulina but truthfully, I have never made use of it before. Spirulina is an awesome supplement but kind of too costly getting at local stores but seeing the offer to get it online is great to see.
Spirulina has a lot of benefits attached to it and trust me, I like that it can be used on many occasions to cure many other body disease or illness. Thank you

Thanks for visiting us. Its a terrific food supplement, but just to emphasise, spirulina is not a cure, but a superfood that can help boost our bodies much the same as eating well does.

  5. I have heard of spirulina before but never knew of its benefits. This might be part of the solution to this virus outbreak going around. Maybe not the whole answer but it cannot hurt at least.

Having a damaged immune system just opens you up for catching anything that is going around-including the really contagious Covid-19 bug that is currently wrecking the world. Everybody needs to know about natural health boosters like spirulina and your doing your part. Thanks.

    • Dear Randall, thank you for visiting us. It would be nice if a Spirulina superfood supplement could be the solution to the current global virus outbreak. I should highlight however that there is NO evidence that it can prevent COVID-19 or any other virus. However, from my experience and that of the studies we have described in our post, it does seem to boost the immune system for some people. Remember, its a food. A superfood but still just a food.

Yu can learn a lot more about Spirulina on this page.

      Thanks again for the visit.

      Have a great day.

  6. Hey Tj,

Very detailed information about Spirulina. It’s very popular and many people take Spirulina as their daily intake and many people have benefitted from it.

Though I want to mention that Spirulina has many adverse effects. The algae may harbor toxins if it grows in a body of water that’s polluted with heavy metals, bacteria, or harmful particles called microcystins.

Spirulina must be avoided by the people who are suffering from certain autoimmune diseases — such as lupus, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis — in which your immune system attacks your body.

So in these cases, it is better to avoid Spirulina.

But thanks for a good read.

    • Dear Jivita,

Thank you for visiting us and leaving a detailed comment. You clearly understand Spirulina very well. You are absolutely right, whilst it has many benefits for numerous conditions, there are some conditions such as lupus, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis that it is not appropriate for. We make that clear on our page about osteoarthritis, that should NOT be confused with rheumatoid arthritis which is a completely different condition.

Its important to remember that Spirulina is a food. Ok the West has given it the label of “superfood” but its fundamentally a food or food supplement. And you are absolutely right, where it grows is CRITICAL. That is why we are so careful with our recommendations as to which suppliers are safe. We are building a list of these. At the moment we do not recommend any suppliers from China or India due to the risk of contamination from the water it is grown in, but if you can make any suggestions, we would be interested in investigating them further to review them for this site.

Thank you again for visiting us. We really appreciate it.

Have a great day and keep safe.

      Best Regards,

      Trevor

  8. Sometimes I wonder if it takes extreme measures for people to wash their hands or take care of their immune system. I mean, really; think about it. I think it takes a plague for people to take care of themselves. Good article and came in such a good time. I know a friend who has a terrible immune system but she doesn’t take care of herself because she doesn’t love herself.

    • Dear Linda,

You may well be right regarding how sometimes we need something to shake us to do the right thing. If your friend suffers from a poor immune system, providing it isn´t e.g. rhemeutoid arthritis, lupus or multiple sclerosis, (BUT ITS GREAT FOR Osteoarthritis) a gram or two of spirulina a day could help to make all the difference to her general health and really boost her energy too. It did for mine. And if she is depressed, you say she doesn´t “love herself”, its also good for depression.

I´m glad you liked the article

Keep safe, keep well and have a great day.

  9. Hi Trevor,

What a great article and wonderful reminder of this fantastic supplement! My mother-in-law has taken spirulina for years, and I must say she is one very young 68 year old! Ran her first marathon last year and is always getting compliments on how youthful she looks.
    Thanks for this fantastic information!

    • Dear Lisa,

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I´m glad your Mother in Law takes spirulina, what better proof that its great to boost energy than to run your first marathon at 68! Very impressive! And the comments about “youthful” are definitely confirmed by the evidence on how it helps to keep your skin young looking.

I´m so pleased you appreciated the information and look forward to hearing from you again.

Have a great day and keep safe.

  10. Wow! Some really great information. I know that I have read about spirulina somewhere. Your site offered much more information. I look forward to giving it a try. I saw the NOW brand listed, but there was not much of a review. Is this a brand that you have tried? Living in America I know that I have seen this brand quite often in my shopping travels.
I will be keeping you bookmarked for further research and purchase. Thank you for the post.

    • Dear Gabrielle,

Thank you for this feedback on our site. The Now brand comes highly recommended although my personal favourite or favorite is Nutrex. The key thing is to ensure the supplier sources safe and secure spirulina, grown in clean water. We are drafting more detailed reviews on all of the main suppliers, but for now if a brand is not listed on our site, we cannot recommend them, quite simply due to the risk of potential contamination. We continually search for reliable and secure suppliers that maintain high safety and production standards that we will be happy to review and list on our site.
      Keep safe.

      Best Regards,

      Trevor

  11. Informative article about spirulina. I’ve never tried it before but have seen it in the shelves at the grocery stores. You’ve outlined its benefits in a more convincing manner that has triggered the interest in me to give it a try. Thank you for highlighting the fact that it’s highly important to know how it was grown before making any purchase. It doesn’t come cheap either but I’ll visit your site to check out the prices hopefully I’ll make a purchase. Is it that important to check with doctor before using it, especially since I’ll be using it for the first time?

    • Dear Maggie,

I think you have captured the advice we have highlighted extrememly well. I would exercise extreme caution buying from grovery stores unless it was one of the brands we recommend. The production methods and supply chain are so important.

If you have no underlying health conditions, I think you could try Spirulina without problem, remember it is a “superfood” but be careful if you have any of the conditions explained on this click through.

Thanks again for the visit, keep safe and have a great day.

      Best Regards,

      Trevor

  12. This is a timely article with all that is going on around the world with COVID-19! As you shared, there are many people worried about themselves and loved ones.
I was not previously familiar with Spirulina, but it sounds like a great way to boost your immune system, which is critical right now. Especially for those that fall into the higher risk groups during this virus outbreak.

I am not a big fan of medications, so the idea that this could help lessen the need for many other medications is very encouraging.
Thank you for sharing this important information!

    • Dear Heidi,

Thank you for visiting our site. I`m glad you agree it is timely. Consuming a Spirulina food supplement can boost your immune system in much the same way as eating well, e.g. vitamin c etc., can help. I fully agree that medications are to be avoided unless there is little other choice. My own health has improved immeasurably thanks to Spirulina, and can thoroughly recommend it as a superfood.

Thanks for your visit and keep safe.
